Think getting fired is hard? Try doing the firing.

And when you are a small business owner it can be particularly hard.

At best, it’s an uncomfortable face-to-face confrontation that can lead to hurt feelings. At worst: physical altercations, hacked servers and lost clients.

“Large corporations have a team of people who can assist with hiring and training new people,” said Roberta Chinsky Matuson, president of Human Resource Solutions, a Massachusetts-based consultancy. “Small businesses have much less bench strength when it comes to staffing and training.”

They don’t have much when it comes to firing either. Here’s what seven disgruntled employees did to small business owners after they learned they were getting pink-slipped.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — Walgreens, the nation’s largest drugstore chain, is planning to start selling health insurance to customers this fall.

Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens (WAG, Fortune 500) will sell health insurance products with different price ranges and coverage levels from coast-to-coast through a private health insurance exchange, according to people familiar with the matter.

Walgreens neither confirmed nor denied the move. “As always, we’re looking at a number of options in light of health care reform as we continue to seek ways to help our customers better navigate today’s health care system,” a Walgreens spokesman said.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — The government is taking over three Tylenol plants following a blizzard of drug recalls and a Food and Drug Administration criminal investigation into safety issues at the factories.

The FDA and the Justice Department on Thursday took action against McNeil PPC and two of its executives — its vice president of quality and its vice president of operations for over-the-counter products — for failing to comply with federally-mandated manufacturing practice.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — Oregon has sued Johnson & Johnson for allegedly selling defective Motrin drugs to consumers in the state for more than a year, and for trying to secretly remove the faulty drugs from stores.

“Companies that break the rules and put consumers at risk will be held accountable,” Oregon Attorney General John Kroger said in a statement.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark Corp. said Friday it will pay $1.25 billion to buy Universal American Corp.’s Medicare prescription drug services unit.

CVS said it pursued the deal because with the country’s population aging, a growing percentage of Americans will get their prescription drug coverage from Medicare.

Shares of Universal American jumped by more than a third in morning trading. The company said shareholders would get $12.80 to $13 per share in cash and would own a new company operating Universal American’s other businesses.

LOS ANGELES — Jackie Simoni is a computer geek turned inventor of a special light to make dogs safer after dark. Now, she’s also a government contractor.

SAN FRANCISCO — For some veggies-hating children, Happy Meals won’t be so happy anymore.

City lawmakers on Tuesday approved legislation that they hope will force fast-food chains such as McDonald’s to make their children’s meals healthier or stop selling them with toys.

The Board of Supervisors voted 8-3 to preliminarily approve an ordinance that would limit toy giveaways in children’s meals that have excessive calories, sodium and fat. It also requires servings of fruits or vegetables with each meal.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — The adult Tylenol that was recalled this week was made at the same shuttered Fort Washington plant that produced all of Johnson & Johnson’s problematic children’s Tylenol medicines, CNNMoney confirmed Tuesday.

On Monday, Johnson & Johnson’s (JNJ, Fortune 500) McNeil drugmaking unit announced a new recall of 127,728 bottles of Tylenol 8 Hour caplets 50 count bottles after receiving comsumer complaints of a “musty,” “moldy” odor.

Certainly Towns (D-N.Y.), the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, has browbeaten his share of CEOs and Wall Street titans. At this hearing in May, though, Towns laid into the health care giant. “The information I’ve seen during the course of our investigation raises questions about the integrity of the company,” he boomed. “It paints a picture of a company that is deceptive, dishonest, and has risked the health of many of our children.”

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — You may have thought you were playing it safe by avoiding recently-recalled Johnson & Johnson products, but another drugmaker is now in the hot seat for some of the same problems, including the release of metal-tainted pills.

On Thursday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning letter to one of the world’s largest manufacturers of generic drugs, Michigan-based Perrigo Co.
